Meet the Team
David Thornhill, CEO
Never switches off. Dubbed as Mr. Innovation by colleagues and industry, in 1987 David Thornhill first started out in the recruitment industry as a payroll clerk for a local firm in Gloucestershire, Staff UK. David went onto write the first ever software model of its kind for the temp recruitment market, integrating payroll, invoicing, sales ledger, funding and comprehensive management reporting; in essence creating a completely new funding supplier sector.
In 2004 David launched Cash Simply, which marked the start of a company based on a similar model to those they had previously developed to great success. Cash Simply has since rebranded to ‘Simplicity’, progressed from a standing start to an annual turnover of more than £100 million and have built an operational base that does not restrict growth.
When he’s not dreaming up his next business venture, David enjoys travelling the world; attending music festivals and doing the occasional charity skydive.
Jonathan Viney, Managing Director
Jonathan has a full pedigree of growing and developing business across many different industries. His focus is always on the customer and how the services and solutions we innovate and build help our customers. His simple philosophy is to understand the customer and exceed the market expectations.
Jonathan started his life in Confectionary, before spending 15 years with Vodafone in a number of key roles including Director of Strategic Relationships and setting up the first International Sales team. He then went on to join Simplicity as the Customer Service Director to manage the customer relationships, implement a marketing strategy and team up with the Sale Director to coordinate the sales team.
With his daughter at University, he finds time to cycle and do Pilates, although no one has actually seen him on a bike or pull out a Pilates move.
Pauline Burden, Operations Manager
Process Queen Pauline has over 30 years of payroll and ledger management expertise and experience. She started off as a payroll clerk at Heathrow Airport before relocating to Gloucestershire with her husband. Pauline then went on to work for a variety of companies covering a number of different roles, managing accounts, payroll, credit control and even dabbled in a spot of sales. But Pauline found her place at Simplicity, managing the payroll department before moving to Together to manage the main operation.
Pauline takes ‘organised’ to another level, implementing processes within her team to ensure they deliver the best results possible. She is firm but very fair and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.
Family means the world to Pauline, especially her little grandson. In her spare time she lives the ‘good life’ on her small holding, where she and her husband share a passion for animals and care for a number of animals, of all shapes and sizes.
